How to change the language in Word 2010

At the time of writing documents, Word is the quintessential word processor and although we all use it continuously, sometimes we miss details as small as correctly selecting the language in which we are writing. It should be noted that by default you will have it configured in the same language as the operating system. That is why in this article of a How we want to explain step by step how to change the language in Word 2010 so you have no doubt about it.

Steps to follow:

1.First of all, you should know that Microsoft Office and, therefore, Word uses as default language that which is also default as the input language in the Windows operating system. That is why the first thing you will have to do is go to the control panel to add this new language.

One of the fastest ways to access the control panel in Windows 8 is by right-clicking on the Windows icon in the taskbar and then on ‘ Control Panel ‘. Likewise, there are also other ways to open the equally valid control panel.

2.Next, you should go to the ‘ Add language ‘ option that is included in the ‘Clock, language and region’ category. In case you have added it before, you can also opt to click on ‘Change input methods’ to choose the one that is considered default.

3.So, now you must add the language in which you want to configure your Word; click on the option ‘ Add a language ‘ and select the one you want to configure. In our case, we will choose Portuguese to perform the example. Once you find it, it will appear in the list, under which you already had as default and you can choose the order of priorities.

4.Next, you must open Microsoft Word 2010 and go to the File / Options menu to now directly configure the language of this word processor. Once the pop-up window opens, you must select the option ‘Languages’ in the menu on the left and add the language we want to use from now on. To the right of the list, you will see the option ‘Set as default’ to mark it as the default language. Click on the ‘Accept’ button and if a warning dialog appears, also confirm that you are sure you want to change the keyboard.

5.At this time, Microsoft Word will alert you that it is necessary to restart the program for the changes to take effect. So, you must save the document you are working with and close and reopen Word. Once this is done, you can use your word processor in the new language you have chosen. Also, we think you may find it interesting to learn:
